You also need to tighten your wallet. Now is not the time to buy a new car. It’s not even a smart idea to update the lease on it. Don’t buy a boat or other expensive item. Doing this while still going through the divorce will only anger your spouse and might cause them to ask for more as you divide your assets.
You need to be financially responsible when going through a divorce. This means avoiding buying a new car, moving to a new home, buying artwork or even renewing your season tickets to your favorite Florida sports team. The smarter you are with your money, the less likely it is your spouse will ask for more in the divorce.
